The ‘rules’ for constructing titles on eBay differ from your website, with much more SEO weight placed on the content of your eBay title. In a marketplace environment, you are also competing against the sellers above and below you in the search results, so it’s vital to capture a buyer’s attention immediately.
Providing well-structured, detailed product titles gives a buyer a clear snapshot of what you are selling, which can lead to an increase in clicks through to your listing and ultimately, more sales!
Tips for your titles
- Each listing title can be up to 80 characters - use it, always!
- Titles with 65+ characters are 1.5x more likely to sell
- State exactly what your product is, reading left to right
- Include category, item specifics and any relevant keywords.
Try to avoid
- ALL CAPS, punctuation marks, slang terms
- Acronyms and other vague search terms
- Contact details, website details
- Brands or keywords unrelated to your products
TIP: If you’re unsure what keywords to use, try searching for your product and refer to the predictive search terms (that’s what customers are actually searching for!). You can also review what the top listed sellers are using (that’s what is actually selling!)
