Note: The instructions and screenshots refer to eBay, but the concept is the same for all marketplaces.
By default, Shopify Marketplace Connect will use your product name as the marketplace listing title. In this setup, if your product name changes, so will your marketplace listing title (automatically because it's linked). But it's possible to use a different title for marketplace listings.
Before updating your title
- Enable the “[marketplace] title result” column from the columns menu (if you are managing listings from Shopify Marketplace Connect in Bulk-edit Mode).
- You can utilize your existing product attributes to save time and update in bulk - Just add { } on either side of your attribute name when building your title, and we’ll import it to your product titles.
- {name} = your website product name. If you ever wish to revert your titles, simply bulk update the title to this exact value.
There are three ways to use the title field in Shopify Marketplace Connect
1. Entering a 'hard coded' value into the Title field. This is usually done on individual products and can be done from both Single-edit Mode and Bulk-edit Mode. Listing Modes
If you manually enter a title value for a product, your marketplace listing will display this title even if changes are made to the title field in your online store catalog.
e.g. if Name was "medium bag", you could enter "Medium sized overnight bag" into the Title column. If you change the Name field in Shopify at a later date, for example, to "Medium Leather Bag", the title will not change on your marketplace listing, and will remain as "Medium sized overnight bag". To revert back to the formula/linked approach, enter {name} in the marketplace Title field (either individually or in bulk) and your marketplace listings will return to the default value in your online store catalog.
2. Enter a formula value into the Title field to combine with constant common text values and/or other product attributes such as Brand. This can be done individually in Single-edit Mode, or both individually or in bulk in Bulk-edit Mode.
In Bulk-edit Mode, to see the result of the formula before it gets published to a sales channel, it's useful to display the "Title Result" column from the column chooser in the grid:
For example, entering "NEW {name}" inserts a constant text value of NEW in front of the variable {name} i.e. your product name. (Note, you edit the Title, you can't edit the Title Result column).
Another example is entering "{vendor} {name}" into the title column. This will use a brand attribute (variable) from your catalog (assuming you have one) in conjunction with the product name.
3. The final option is to map the title column to an attribute in your catalog using Attribute Mapping Mode. For example, you could have created a custom (attribute or meta-field) that houses your marketplace titles as you want them to appear, perhaps it's not possible to use common text or other variables to get what you want but you want to be able to easily update the values later, which you wouldn't be able to do if you hardcoded every title into the grid.
